Unscheduled Remote Learning

If Gayle Middle School is closed and the School Board and Superintendent call for an Unscheduled Remote Learning Day, students will complete asynchronous learning through Canvas. Assignments will be posted by the normal start time of the school day and will focus on review, practice, reinforcement, or extension of previously taught material (no new content). Student engagement and submission of work will serve as attendance for the day and will not be graded. Teachers will also offer virtual office hours via Google Meet during the first 30 minutes of each regularly scheduled class period to answer questions and provide support.

Assignments will be posted in Canvas by the normal start time of the school day, 9:20 AM. Student engagement and submission of work will serve as attendance for the day. Work is not graded and should be submitted when students return to their next in-person class period, with flexibility when circumstances affect participation. Printed copies of activities will be made available when possible ahead of closures and, if not, will be provided upon return, as requested, to ensure all students can participate regardless of technology access.

**Students should always prioritize completing any missing, late, or redo assignments before beginning their unscheduled remote learning assignments.
